A United States Uniformed Services Privilege and Idtification Card (also known as a U.S. Military Identification Card, Geva Convtions IDtification Card, or less commonly abbreviated as USPIC) is an identification document issued by the United States Department of Defense to identify an individual as a member of the armed forces or the estate of a member, e.g. B. a child or spouse.

The card is used to control access to military bases, base exchanges (such as AAFES, Navy Exchange, Marine Corps Exchange, Coast Guard Exchange), commissaries, and Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) facilities. It also serves as proof of eligibility for medical care provided directly within the military health care system or externally through TRICARE.
Veterans Id Card Program
The modern identity card is called a Common Access Card (CAC) because it is also a smart card used with specialized card readers for automatic building access control systems, communication encryption and computer access. The Common Access Card is now used by active duty, reserve and National Guard members.
The main types of U.S. military identification cards issued today are the CAC for active duty and reserve members; the Department of Defense (DD) Form 2, for retirees; the DD form 2765,
For privileged veterans; and the DD Form 1173-1 for departments. Until the phasing-in of the CCA from the end of 2003, the DD Form 2 served as an identifier for active members in industry-specific variants. Prior to the October 1993 revision, the DD Form 2 Form Number was stamped with one of five variant codes for the service branch (A, AF, N, MC, or CG), and the typed blank form variants were overprinted with branch names and logos. The current DD forms 2 and 1173 are identical for all branches; The Defse Rollmt Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) ID workstation prints industry-specific names and logos on the blank form, along with the holder's personal information at the time of issue. The current variants of DD forms 2 and 1173 differ only in the color in which the blank form is printed, indicating the holder's status. DD Forms 2 and 1173 are easy to confuse because they are similar in appearance and purpose but are two different forms.
